Mrs. Synyster Gates asked:
since im a beginer im with a bunch of 13 year olds.
Also, im not that great of a dancer.im not the WORST dancer, but my instructor stresses to me that when i move my torso not to move my hips. i try, but i always forget this when starting over. also im not sure how to move my hands when my torso is swinging side to side.
is it too late for me, and should i continue the classes? it wasnt that great as i thought it might be.

Ballroom dancers all go through a period of difficulty in learning Latin motion. It isn’t at all uncommon for it to take a couple of years to get the technique down, and get it into muscle memory. Arm styling isn’t something you should worry much about at this point. You’ll pick it up a little at a time. Count yourself lucky: many salsa teachers, without good teaching qualifications, don’t teach the technique at all, so you seem ahead of the average on that count.
No, it’s not too late! (I started WAY later than you). Don’t worry about the other kids in class. It will just take a while to pick it up. Practise anywhere and everywhere. When I was first learning ballroom, I even practised my footwork in the grocery store line-up, or while my lunch was warming up in the microwave. I would (and actually still do) dance around my house with an imaginary partner. The key to success is practise, practise, and then practise some more - it will come to you; you can do this!!!
I had my first lesson at 16. And 3weeks later had to perform it in front of 400+people.
We had one lesson a week. At first we where all lost and confused. But in the end we all performed with our partners and everyone loved it and no mess ups. Just keep at it.
If you make a mistake, carry on!
Everyone has to start somewhere right, its never to late.
Trust me Salsa is great.
Good luck
