The best way to improve dancing is to do it socially, checkout dance parties on weekends, and go where there are people who can dance, not dirty nightclubs
Best way to do anything is practice practice practice. If you have friends who are willing to come over every once in a while to help you work out any kinks, that’s your best options. If not, go out dancing with everyone is the best way to do it. Don’t be shy to ask more experience dancers to dance. YOu may think that you’re not worthy, but they may be too shy to approach someone new. It truly benefit both you (the newbie) and the veteran.
If you’re waiting for your dinner to nuke in the microwave, practice your footwork. Get it into muscle memory. Between waiting on the dryer and your copier to get the job done, that’s alot of practicing you could be doing. Next thing you know, the elevator music is great practice music.
It is the best if you can find some time to go and dance to social parties, at least once in a while. This is the best way to find local references, too. I find it surprizing that you say that you can’t schedule private lessons because you work a lot. Many, if not all teachers who teach adults undestand that they have to work around their schedule, so they teach on weekends and in the evenings. If it is hard to commit to private lessons, find good group classes, asking other dancers in your area is the best way.
